Welcome to the new and improved Delicious as it Looks! I have been wanting to update my site forever and I finally had the time, energy, and motivation to do it. Having a vision really helped as well as realizing that I deserved a beautiful site to reflect all of the hard work and artistry that I put into my recipes and photography.
I started blogging back in 2009. It’s hard to believe I’ve been doing this for nine years! Back in 2009 I didn’t know anything about blogging and found myself signing up with Blogger, which is fine because it’s very easy to use, but it doesn’t have the customization that WordPress does. I’ve been wanting to transfer my blog for a long time now, but I knew it would be a lot of work, so I kept putting it off. This summer I was finally feeling like I could tackle the challenge and started the process.
The past couple of weeks have been very stressful as I made the final steps to transfer everything. I got to a certain point (when my site went down) and realized that I was in over my head and had to hire someone to help me. The good folks over at WPBeginner got everything straightened out for me. If you are in the process of transferring your blog to WordPress, or are just looking start a new blog on WP, I highly recommend consulting with WPBeginner. It was totally worth the cost and this is not a paid endorsement – I was just really happy with their work.
This whole process actually reminded me how much stress and anxiety affect my IBS. Every time something went wrong (like my site being down for a day – my own fault), I could feel my stomach drop and start churning. Not fun. I’m looking forward to things getting back to normal and getting my digestion back on track.
I’ve always had this blog as more of a hobby and not as my main form of income, so I think that has helped me to keep going for so long. I go through times when I just don’t have it in me to blog, and that’s fine, I just take a break. It’s been really fun designing my site and logo and I think I will enjoy posting new recipes here. You, my readers, will especially find it easier to navigate and to find the recipes you are looking for. I have an easy-to-use Recipe Index and a Search Bar (at the top of the recipe index page and in the main menu) now!
I’m still trying to figure out how to set up my email address, so don’t try to email or use the “contact” form just yet. It probably won’t get to me. If you need to contact me in the meantime, you can direct message me on Facebook or Instagram, or just leave a comment under one of my posts.
