This Low FODMAP Sweet Mustard Pretzel Dip features spicy brown mustard and mayonnaise. It’s so addictive combined with salty gluten-free pretzels!

Remember when we used to get together in groups for parties and such? Yeah, good times, good times. As I was creating this post, I remembered one such time before the pandemic, the summer of 2019. We had a potluck with my husband’s co-workers. One of the dishes brought was a mustard pretzel dip. It was so good and addicting, I had to have the recipe. So here is my low FODMAP version of this delicious dip. The sweet and salty combination is so amazing, it’s hard to stop crunching away.

Finding Low-FODMAP Ingredients


The tricky part of this dip is finding a mustard that’s tolerable. I found the HyVee brand of spicy brown mustard, which contains no garlic, onion, or mysterious spices. I found another brand on Amazon called Sir Kensington’s. I have not tried this brand, but there are no FODMAPs in the ingredients. If you don’t tolerate spicy foods, Dijon mustard can be used instead.

Regular wheat pretzels are low-FODMAP in small serving sizes (1/2 cup). If you plan to eat more and are sensitive to wheat, there are many gluten-free pretzel brands on the market today that you can try. Pictured here are Snyder’s of Hanover Gluten-Free Pretzels. Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl. Mix until well-combined.
  • Chill for several hours before serving.
  • Serve with pretzels (gluten-free if needed).

Notes

  • Check ingredients label for FODMAPs. I found HyVee brand, French’s, and Sir Kensington’s do not contain onion or garlic. (Note that the term “spices” on ingredient labels typically do not include onion or garlic. Read more here.)
  • If you don’t tolerate spicy foods, Dijon mustard can be used instead.
  • Don’t need low FODMAP? Add 1 teaspoon garlic powder and replace garlic oil with vegetable oil.
